LOWGLOW Cosmic Starlight Kit

A typical starlight kit come with super-long fibers bundled together, turning the setup into a long and frustrating process. You’re forced to manually separate fibers into sections, wasting time before the install even begins. The extra fiber length adds unnecessary weight and bulk inside the headliner, making everything harder than it needs to be.

We changed that. Our fibers come pre-separated and organized, so you can install faster with less frustration. And instead of relying on one bulky projector with only 1–4 LEDs, we upgraded the system to 15 LEDs using three small projectors—bright output, full coverage, and a much cleaner install.

With a new standardized design, our Cosmic kit is engineered to be easier to install, more consistent, and with no oversized projector box to fight with or try to hide.

Cosmic delivers a full RGBW starlight headliner with 3 full custom color sections. Allowing your headliner to even have a color gradient. You get real control over your setup.

Installation Overview

1. Headliner Removal & Safety

Removing the headliner is the step most people are nervous about — the good news is there are extensive YouTube videos available for nearly every vehicle chassis that walk through this process step by step.

• 
  Disconnect the battery BEFORE removing the headliner
• 
  Follow a chassis-specific video for trim, pillar, grab handle, and headliner removal
• 
  Take your time and store clips and hardware safely
  

2. Power Setup & System Check

Once the headliner is fully removed:

• 
  Reconnect the battery temporarily to locate accessory (ACC) power
• 
  Accessory power is typically found in the interior fuse box
• 
  Use a fuse tap specific to your vehicle
• 
  System requirements: 12V power with a 10A fuse
• 
  Crimp the fuse tap securely

Before continuing:

• 
  Power on the kit
• 
  Verify all projectors illuminate
• 
  Confirm the app connects properly
• 
  Test modes (color, twinkle, shooting stars)

👉 Do not proceed until functionality is verified

3. Measuring & Layout Planning

You will be laying out fiber channels based on projector LED output.

• 
  The kit uses 3 projectors
• 
  Each projector has 15 LEDs
  
  LEDs 1–13 = standard fiber channels
  
  LEDs 14 & 15 = twinkling channels
  

Spacing Calculation

1. 
   Measure the headliner from where you want the fibers to start to where you want them to end
2. 
   Divide that measurement by 13 LEDs

Example:

42 inches ÷ 13 = 3.23 inches

This measurement is the spacing for each horizontal channel line.

4. Drawing Fiber Channels

• 
  Find the center of the headliner and draw a vertical center line
• 
  From this center line, draw 12 additional horizontal lines
• 
  You will now have 13 total channels
• 
  Each channel corresponds to one fiber bundle
• 
  Fiber bundles are pre-labeled with their fiber counts

5. Dotting the Stars

For each channel:

• 
  Randomly dot from one end of the headliner to the other
• 
  If a bundle contains 100 fibers, randomly place 100 "dots"
• 
  Dots should be placed on and between the lines for a better look.

6. Shooting Star Layout

• 
  Draw shooting star paths separately
• 
  Shooting star fibers total 600 fibers
• 
  Layout direction, length, and spacing to your preference before piercing
  

7. Piercing the Headliner

• 
  Use the included piercing tool
• 
  Pierce with the contour of the headliner
• 
  Avoid tearing or over-widening holes

8. Projector Placement

• 
  Connect all projectors together (3)
• 
  Mount 3 projectors on the left and other 3 on the right side of the headliner
• 
  DO NOT mount under roof airbags
• 
  Maintain 1–3 inches of clearance from airbags
  

9. Fiber Insertion

• 
  Insert fiber bundles into the projectors
• 
  Fibers include mixed diameters (.5mm & .75mm)
  
  Randomize diameters while inserting for a natural star field
  
• 
  Highly recommended: start inserting fibers closest to the projector first
  
  This prevents tangling and makes routing easier
  
• 
  Leave slack in the fibers — do not pull tight
  

10. Twinkling Fibers

• 
  LEDs 14 & 15 control twinkling
• 
  Randomly distribute these fibers throughout the headliner
• 
  Do not cluster twinkling fibers in one area
  

11. Securing the Fibers

• 
  Use low heat glue only
• 
  Lightly glue fibers on the backside of the headliner
• 
  Also glue fiber bundles at the projector entry point
• 
  Do NOT cover the entire bundle or individual fibers with glue
  

12. Trimming

• 
  Use nail clippers or zip-tie cutters
• 
  Trim fibers flush with the headliner
• 
  Do not press into the headliner while cutting

Common Questions

1. Am I gonna need to buy any fancy tools to complete the install?

No! Most tools you’ll need are included in the kit and we also have an install package available with additional tools you might need! 

2. Is it going to be able to sync up/pair with the underglow/ambient kits so they're doing the same colors, sequence, etc?

You can run similar modes, have them be on the same colors and sequences but they are NOT on the same app!

3. Do you have an installation video/guide on the starlight kit?

4. What is your average install time from start to finish?

The install time fluctuates a lot based on the vehicle and how many stars you will be running! But typically a 1,050 star kit will take about 10-12 hours from start to finish!

5. What is the best way to install the kit on the headliner?

The “Best” way to install the kit is really up to you! But the most time efficient and simplest way is how we show you in our installation video and in the detailed instructions in every kit!
